RENOVATION LOG #5: HDB DEFECTS FIX

It's been weeks after meeting all interior designers recommended by Qanvast.
Qanvast actually did a follow up with me to see if the interior designers whom they recommended
had contacted me. And for those who did, Qanvast also did a survey to know how well they did.

Apparently, they have a ranking system over at their side too!

So anyway, before any renovators can start to do anything to our house,
We need to fix the HDB defects. You have to call to make an appointment for them to come down and have a look. The fix only takes a fews but do make sure that every defect is being fixed because after you start to renovated, HDB will no longer help with the defects. This is probably because the defects may or may not be caused by renovators.

Submit your defect list before renovation!
One thing! This news is informing us that cement will be more costly after 1st June 2015.

However, if your house is actually from a leftover HDB which you had successfully bidded through Sales of Balance flat, it shouldn't cost you money to get HDB to do cement smoothing for you.
When do we need cement smoothing? We were taught this by Jason from the Design Chapterz. If you are going to overlay your house with 1 material, let's say Vinyl. You will have this problem of uneven floor between the kitchen and the living room.

Our default kitchen has a slightly high floor than the living room. Just go in and have a look again if you have already gotten your keys. So if you wan the cut off point to be smooth up, you need to raise the living room floor a little by doing cement smoothing to match the height of the kitchen floor.

If you get renovators to do it now...well yea, they will have to charge a higher price due to what was mentioned in the news.

I think the correct term is called "cement screed".
Do ask your renovators about this!
